Embryonic mortality in cattle from the embryo’s perspective
نویسنده
چکیده
For the embryo to successfully complete development it must be capable of executing its developmental program within a microenvironment largely established by the mother. Mortality results either because of intrinsic defects within the embryo, an inadequate maternal environment, asynchrony between embryo and mother, or failure of the mother to respond appropriately to embryonic signals. To some extent, the embryo’s fate is dictated by events before fertilization: embryos formed from incompetent oocytes have a low probability of successful development. For example, embryos have reduced developmental competence when formed from oocytes from persistent ovarian follicles or from cows during the summer in Florida. Chromosomal abnormalities, caused by incompetent gametes or other causes, and homozygous recessive genes, exacerbated by inbreeding, represent additional types of intrinsic errors responsible for embryonic loss. Alterations in the maternal environment can cause embryonic mortality, as has been shown for heat stress and feeding diets high

PCR-SSCP Analysis of Genetic Variation in DNMT Gene Family in Holstein Cattle
Members the DNA Methyltransferases (DNMT) gene family have been shown to play fundamental roles in regulating embryonic growth and development from embryonic fertilization to postnatal life; through regulating the establishment and/or maintenance of specific epigenetic marks. The present study was conducted to identify potential reported mutations within the exon 33 of DNMT-1, intron 4 of DNMT-...
متن کاملEffect of Metabolic Stress on Ovarian Activity and Reproductive Performance of Dairy Cattle: A Review
Reproductive efficiency in dairy cattle has been decreased over the last 5 decades despite significant gains in genetic selection, improved reproductive technologies and nutritional care. In high-yielding dairy cattle, the negative energy balance (NEB) during the first week post-partum adversely affects ovarian activity, mainly follicle growth and steroidogenesis. Circulating levels of non-este...
متن کاملEvaluating the Effects of Oral Morphine on Embryonic Development of Spinal Cord in Wistar Rats
Introduction: In the present research, the effect of morphine consumption during pregnancy on the development of the embryo’s spinal cord was studied in Wistar rat. Methods: Female Wistar rats (Wt: 250-300 g) were mated with males. The test group received morphine (0.01 mg/ml) in their drinking water. Pregnant rats were later killed with chloroform on the 12th, 13th and 14th days of pregnancy, ...

This study aims to determine the effects of storage period and egg weight on albumen pH and hatchability of hatching eggs. For this purpose, the eggs produced by native breeder hens (28 - 31 weeks of age) were used in a completely randomized design with a 3 × 8 factorial arrangement. The main factors were 3 egg weight ranges (46 - 49, 50 - 52 and 53 - 56) and 8 storage periods (1, 3, 6, 9, 12, ...
